Rocky Mountain’s 2013 Season- Off to a Great Start!

The Rocky Mountain Rollergirls 2013 season is off to an exciting start!

In the beginning of February, the Dooms Daisies and the Red Ridin’ Hoods faced off at the Fillmore Auditorium in our 2013 home team season opener. After a close and exciting bout, the Crazy Daisies emerged victorious, with a final score of 201-170.

In March, our Kill Scouts divided up into Chicks and Bunnies teams for our annual spring War*house bout, often fondly referred to as “The Peep Show”. After many lead changes and an impressive show of skating from our up-and-coming talent, the Chicks fought their way to a five point win over the Bunnies. Final score: 154-149.

Our next Fillmore bout on April 6 featured the “roller derby moms” from the reality television show, The Amazing Race, on opposing home teams! The Sugar Kill Gang and the United States Pummeling Service were the next two home teams to hit the wood track at the packed Fillmore Auditorium, and the USPS delivered a win: 175-128 over the Sugars. For the first time, our bout was broadcast live online by coloradosports.tv, and fans from 6 countries and 31 states tuned in to watch!

Later this season we’ll finish off our home teams tournament when the Hoods and Sugars play in September, then finally the USPS will challenge the Daisies for the championship in November. Stay tuned!
