On April 12th, Project Mayhem traveled to Longmont, Colorado to compete in a three-team round robin tournament at the Boulder County Fairgrounds hosted by the Boulder County Bombers.

Mayhem played two fast and physical games in a row, first against the Punchy Brewsters of FoCo Girls Gone Derby.  The opening half was close with Mayhem heading into halftime with a 50-32 lead.  The second period saw Mayhem’s score explode with a 14 point power jam by Captain Honey Bunches of Chokes and a 20 point onslaught late in the game by overall tournament MVP jammer Ivanna HasselHaus.  Along with jamming turns from 10 different jammers in the second half, Mayhem took the win against the Punchy Brewsters with a final score of 130-72.

For their second game, Mayhem took on the Bombshells of Boulder County for a defense-heavy bout with tournament bragging rights on the line.  While Mayhem took first blood, BCB held the lead for most of the rest of the match, sending Mayhem to halftime down 62-87.  Although the first half again saw big scoring opportunities for Captain Honey Bunches of Chokes and MVP Ivanna HasselHaus the second half told a different story with BCB’s defense holding Mayhem to a series of low-scoring jams and a final score of 114-170 in favor of the the hosts.

The third and final game saw Boulder take the win over FoCo’s Punchy Brewsters 142-118, giving them first place in the tournament and closing out a great event.  Mayhem will be out on the road next month to play the Pike’s Peak Derby Dames’ Slamazons in Colorado Springs on May 17th and the Ark Valley High Rollers’ All-Stars in Chaffee County, Colorado on May 31st.
