Rocky Mountain’s Skater of the Month (August 2015)

Whiskey Ginger  Massey

Please join us in recognizing two fabulous ladies as RMRG’s Skaters of the Month – Whiskey Ginger and Massacre!

Ginger started her time with RMRG in November 2013 after honing her skills with the South Side Derby Dames. A key player on the United States Pummeling Service home team, Ginger was recently added to the Contenders roster, taking jammers to task with her stealth blocking skills. The Training Committee would also like to acknowledge her contributions as of late – it is one tough job to be on the other side of the whistle, running the show at practice!

Massacre or Massey, as she is affectionately known, started her derby career with the Wreckin’ Roller Rebels before joining RMRG in October 2012. A go-to in the Contenders and Dooms Daisies Jammer rotation, her never-quit attitude is second to none on the track. Massey also trains hard off-skates as well, partaking in weightlifting, CrossFit, you name it. We hear she has a mean deadlift!

Congrats to you both!

Rocky Mountain Updates Rosters Heading Into Playoff Season

With the WFTDA Division 1 Playoffs fast approaching (Rocky Mountain plays in the first D1 tournament, September 4-6 in Tucson), the Rocky Mountain Rollergirls have updated their travel team rosters for the stretch run.

5280 Fight Club, the team that will represent Rocky Mountain in those playoffs, welcomes four new jammers to their roster: Devastator, Havoc, Wild E. Coyote, and recent Charm City Roller Girls transfer, Susy Pow.

Promoting Havoc and Coyote from the B-Team left The Contenders with two vacancies to fill. Congratulations to Violet A. Saultz and Whiskey Ginger who have more than earned the right to join The Contenders.

In addition to its A and B teams, Rocky Mountain chooses a small number of “practice squad” skaters. This time around, those roles will be filled by Blue Scream of Death and Motorbutt.

Congratulations everyone!

Rocky Mountain’s Skater of the Month (June 2015)

Mexica

Last month, Rocky Mountain lost one of our sisters to cancer. Mexica Mayhem, you will always be a part of this family and we proudly honor you as June’s skater of the month.

Though she lost her battle before she could realize her dream of becoming a Red Ridin’ Hood, RMRG is proud to recognize her as an honorary Hood.

Anyone wishing to help her family financially can do so here: http://www.gofundme.com/jenortiz
