May Skater of the month

This month, Rocky Mountain Rollergirls would like everyone to give a HUGE round of applause (and maybe even a well-deserved standing ovation) to our latest skater of the month: BETTY SLAYER ONE! Slayer just hit the year mark with the league, and in that time she has become an invaluable member of Rocky Mountain. When Slayer is not busting her butt on the track, she can often be spotted just off the track, working with our amazing merchandise crew to help promote our league.

Slayer’s tenacity and unflinchingly positive attitude are an inspiration to even our most senior skaters, and her willingness to #work on her game is to be admired by all. Even when jobs and other “real life” issues try to get in the way, Slayer stays focused and committed to her goals. She is not afraid to reach out to others who need support, nor does she shy away from asking for it herself. Her ability to reflect on the inherent challenges of the sport and overcome frustrations are enviable, and we can all learn a lot from the way she keeps moving forward, improving her physical and mental game with every practice.

Slayer’s positive demeanor and infectious work ethic make her an obvious choice for our May Skater of the Month! Congratulations Slayer! We love you and look forward to seeing what great things you do in the future!

April Skater of the Month

Sugar150

This month we would like to give a BIG shout out to an awesome skater both on and off the track. Give it up for Sugar Pie Honey Punch!

Sugar came to RMRG just a few short years ago and has already made a huge impact within the league! When she is not dedicating her time on the track jamming like a boss, she is leading the PR/Marketing team and bringing RMRG’s marketing game to a whole new level! Sugar is innovative and dedicated to helping RMRG have both a great online and print presence.

Sugar has shown a great amount of improvement on the track and is becoming a force to be reckoned with as a jammer. She puts in 100% effort every time she’s at practice and is a joy to be around.

We love her sugary sweetness and great smile and appreciate the hard work she puts in both on and off the track!

RMRG Rolls in to the Future With A New Look

Rocky Mountain Rollergirls want to officially announce they’re rolling into the future with a new attitude, logo and brand identity.

When originally launched, Rocky Mountain’s logo paid homage to the retro roller derby revivalists from Austin, TX of 2003. Rocky Mountain began one year after and celebrated that brand.

After 12 years, both the game and the league evolved – growing into a fierce, full-contact game for female athletes as authentic and exciting as any professional sport. Created originally as a 10-year anniversary logo for Rocky Mountain’s 5280 Fight Club and Contenders travel teams, the new logo unites all travel and home teams under one, unified brand and showcases the transformation of the league and the game.

It’s an example of Rocky Mountain’s dedication to being an inclusive and united all-female roller derby league, ready to roll over its competition as one team, one family.
